So here are my August favourite beauty products, I didn’t do one for July as I was using most of the same products from June. These here have been used constantly this month and of course there will be a few of them that have been used in previous months too. I personally don’t go out of my way to buy new products every month to test out and review, not that there is anything wrong with that. There are plenty of beauty bloggers out there to do that, and I tend to spend more money on clothes than make-up. I rarely change products and tend to stick to what I love and when that product is finished I may come across another product and if that works well then you will see it on my favourites list.
Lets start off with the base, I always use Nivea Soft as my daily moisturiser, this is my go to product day in day out and I do not see it changing in the near future. I have been using this for a number of years now and before this I used to use baby lotion as my moisturiser. It is lightweight and works very well with my skin and doesn’t cause any reaction, therefore I have no intention of changing to any other products and will keep repurchasing and reusing it time and time again. It is suitable to be used on face, body or hands. Nivea Soft is a versatile and intensive moisturiser which is perfect for every day use. It contains the natural benefits of Jojoba oil to nourish and Vitamin E to protect and preserve the skin. The unique formula is quickly absorbed to leave the skin feeling sensationally soft, supple and invigorated.
Estee Lauder Double Wear Foundation: I was given this by my sister as it was on the darker side for her, and I didn’t wear until now as it was a little dark for me too. After being away on holiday and getting a tan, my MAC Face and Body foundation and the NARS Tinted moisturisers were a little light on my face. I decided to try and use the Double Wear foundation, the colour finally matched my skin, yay I did not have to go out and buy another foundation. I only use a small amount of product as I personally don’t like the full coverage specially for an everyday look. This has a SPF of 10 which is good for the summer months, it is a worry-free, long-wearing makeup which stays fresh and looks natural through the heat, humidity and nonstop activity. It feels lightweight and comfortable and won’t change colour, smudge or come off on your clothes.
Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz: This is an ultra-fine brow pencil which fills in sparse brows for a naturally full effect. Featuring a mechanical pencil and spooley brush, Brow Wiz is the ultimate brow pencil for convenient and effortless brow maintenance. The fine tip helps to mimic the appearance of individual hairs for a smudge proof natural look that lasts all day. The one thing I will say is that it runs out fairly quickly, I use it daily and find it only last a month or so.
Rimmel Exaggerate Black Eyeliner: This is a highly pigmented liquid formula which delivers a bold eye look. I use this everyday, I love a cat-eye liner and is my must have product. I can’t remember how many times I have repurchased this. The applicator that come with this helps me to create a smooth and precise line around the eye, one reason why I tend to stick to the brand. The part of my morning routine that takes the longest is when I am doing my winged eyeliner. Therefore using a product that I am used to saves me plenty of time. Saving time in the mornings are very important as I have tons of other chores I need to do on top of getting three boys ready for school. It is priced reasonably for a drug store product and can last for up to three months in my case. It is a smudge-proof, long lasting product that lasts all day!
NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer: I’m sure it is the same for many of you! What more can I say than the fact that it is just awesome, so smooth and light it does not crease under my eyes. One product I will repurchase over and over again and will appear in all my favourite picks!
MAC Lustre Drops Sun Rush: This is described as a “peachy bronze with gold pearl.” This is a medium-dark golden bronze with warm undertones and rich gold shimmer and sheen. I don’t normally wear highlighters on a daily basis but during the summer months I generally tend to just wear the highlighter without any foundations to get the glow I desire specially when I am on holiday in sunnier climate.
Nars Casino Bronzer, gives a slight shimmer to my cheeks with a hint of colour. In my opinion the shimmer is subtle and illuminating in just the right way and not too OTT like some others. I use this to contour my cheeks and it works really well to give it that slight colour that it requires.
Chanel Rouge Coco Adrienne nude lipstick: Adrienne is a creamy pale beige with a slight hint of pink. This is rather easy to put on, feels moisturising, light weight and non-sticky. If you wanted to you can apply it in layers for a more intense colour. I normally wear mine with the Burberry Kisses Gloss on top. Current favourite combination to wear daily.
Bleu De Chanel Eau De Parfum: So you may be wondering why this is on my favourites list as it happens to be a mens fragrance… Well let me tell you, I sometimes like to wear mens fragrances, although not very often as they can be very strong and people can tell you wearing a mans fragrance. On this occasion my perfume had run out and my husband had just bought Bleu. I loved the smell on him and and thought to myself that this isn’t as powerful or strong as most of his other fragrances. This was so different to any of the others and I instantly loved the smell. It gave off an androgynous smell and in my opinion works well for men and women. If in fashion we can wear masculine garments like the boyfriend Jeans, the masculine oversized blazer, then I don’t see why we can’t wear a fragrance which can be worn by both men and women. To me this fragrance is androgynous and I love wearing it!
Silicon Mix Hair Treatment: During the summer months my hair tends to get very dry and brittle as I have coloured hair. So in between visiting the salon I tend to use this product on my hair to restore the health, shine and the softness of my dry, damaged and weak hair. It really does leave my hair feeling very soft and shiny and the mix smells really nice too. I only use this every two weeks, or once a week when I am on holiday. It has been used a lot this month, at a reasonable price it can last you a very long time as I have had this one tub for over a year now.
Loreal Elnett Satin Hairspray: My hair has spent most of this month being in a topknot, therefore resulting in me applying this hairspray every time I put my hair up. I have a lot of short hair, some from breakage and some baby hairs too. So to get a clean sleek look I spray Loreal Paris Elnett Satin hairspray all over my head to keep all those hairs in place. Does a great job without leaving white flakes on my hair.
